What if art fights for nature
The Art city of Basel welcomes the world. With a river, you can swim in all year round. With bike roads, that lead you to unspoiled nature reservations like the Petite Camargue Alsacienne, the Isteiner Klotz, the Reinacherheide, the Meriangärten, the Vitra Campus. You name it. No worries: Art will certainly not be neglected at Art Basel 2026. But it’s always worthwhile to keep our eyes open for the presence and beauty of nature in art – and art in nature.
Art Basel sets standards in this area year after year. We’re excited to see what surprises await us this year, both within Art Basel and Art Unlimited, and beyond. We fondly recall Enea’s Flora Renaissance garden in the courtyard, the huge nature installation at Vitra Campus, the centuries-old olive trees in the Art Unlimited Entrance Area years ago, the wheat field on the Art Basel main plaza. These are powerful statements in support of nature. And there is a powerful group of nature lovers and activists in the Art City of Basel. It started six years ago involving artists like Tom Deininger, galleries like Ecfa and Sabbatikal, also Volta Art Fair, local and international brands. All activities of the Aktionpinguin group focus on one aim: To keep nature including the river Rhine, its shores and the city and environment of Art as tidy, healthy, beautiful and inviting as long and as sustainable as possible. With nature & art interventions and activities.

Thank you all for no littering and antilittering activities especially during the Art Basel 2026 and the whole year round. Like we do everyday 7/24/365 with Aktionpinguin and Rheingeworfen and as we did all the Art Basel years with wonderful people, artists, performer like lilapaloma at arthaus, collectors, gallerists, curators, art dealers, art historians, bref with beautiful, respectful visitors and locals from all over the (art) world.
